Itinerary for VMworld US

I have had several people ask what my schedule is going to be in San Francisco. As the coordinator, it is subject to change (OFTEN!); however, my planned itinerary is as follows:

Monday – I will be hosting the EMC sponsored “Get-to-Know-You Breakfast” at 8:00 AM. This breakfast is held at Jillians and is free to all Spousetivities participants. At 10:00 AM, I will be participating in the Wine Country Tour including the fabulous private lunch!

Monday PM – I will be joining my husband, Scott Lowe, at the VMworld reception. This is open to anyone who has purchased a registration to attend the conference as well as those who have purchased companion passes. Companion passes are purchased through the VMworld registration site.

Tuesday – This is going to be so much fun! At 9:15 AM. I plan to participate in the Sausalito Houseboat Tour. Again, I will be doing the private lunch. The restaurant hosting the lunch is only available by private reservation. Lunch includes gourmet food and wine! If you join me on this one, you won’t want to forget your camera and you’ll never forget the experience!

Wednesday – At 9:00 AM, I will be taking the Photographic Tour of San Francisco. Though I have been to San Francisco several time, this will be fun because we will have a private guide showing us the best spots for pictures in the area. If you happen to forget your camera, no worries because this tour includes one!

Wednesday PM – VMworld party of course!!! Again, this pass is purchased through the VMworld registration site. Get yours today!

Thursday – Another early start will get me headed on my way to the 9:00 AM departure for the Muir Woods/Sausalito Tour. Again, I will enjoy the private lunch at the beautiful Ondine’s Restaurant.

Friday – Who says the fun is over? Just because VMworld ended doesn’t mean the has to, right? So here we go with an 8:00 AM departure to the Monterey/Carmel Tour. My wonderful husband will be joining me for this adventure as well. So all you couples, come on out and enjoy this day of fun with us!

I am likely to add a night out to see the play Wicked as well, but I haven’t quite worked it in to the schedule just yet. I will not be doing the Alcatraz/Angel Island tour but for those of you who wish to do so, the Thursday tour that folks are booking is the yellow tour. If you book this tour, please let me know. That way I can coordinate so everyone can be together as a group!

All tours, the breakfast, and t-shirts can be reserved here. See you in San Francisco!!!

Discount Time

This is just a quick update to let you know that I have 30 discounts of $25 each to offer for the Monday, August 30th wine tour. This is valid only for the Monday wine tour which departs directly after the breakfast. We are traveling via private motor coach so don’t worry about going back to your room after the breakfast to drop items off. Lunch is also offered with this tour at a cost of $27. This is a private lunch complete with a glass of wine. I can offer an additional discount for the lunch! If you book today, or as long as discounts last, you can receive the $25 off the tour plus $10 off the lunch!

Register here for the Monday wine tour and lunch. When you check out, make sure you include discount code winetime for the tour and discount code winetimelunch for the lunch.

Hurry as this offer will end very soon! This is a tour you don’t want to miss!

Spouse Activities Update 2

I wanted to send this out so that everyone could stay up to date on the progress of the plans for this year at VMworld. Due to reservation requirements, we have had to cancel a couple of tours, but rest assured, those have been replaced with other exciting events. For the latest registration information, please visit the Spousetivities registration site. Make sure to register for the free breakfast and t-shirt while you are there. All of these activities are family friendly, except possibly the wine tour, which may not interest younger children.

If you are interested in the Alcatraz/Angel Island tour, I will be posting more information about that event later this week so please check back often.

In addition to these activities, I have options for other events as well. Please contact me for additional information. You can find me on Twitter @spousetivities and you can e-mail me at the address listed on the about page here on this site.

This will be an exciting year and I am looking forward to meeting everyone in San Francisco!

Spouse Activities Update

VMworld 2010 in San Francisco, CA, is right around the corner! I’m excited about the activities planned for VMworld this year and I wanted to give you a quick update on activities planning and deadlines. Make a note of these deadlines—you don’t want to miss out!

  • Today, August 5, is the last day to register for the “Islands of San Francisco Bay” tour. Many of you might have looked at this entry on the Spousetivities registration site and not realized that this is a tour of Alcatraz and Angel Island. Sorry for not being clearer! Here’s why you should consider registering for this activity. First, this activity includes private transportation between the San Francisco Marriott (very near Moscone, where the conference is being held) and Pier 33. Second, this activity also includes a boxed lunch to enjoy on Angel Island. Third, you’ll also get an expert guide from Organized Chaos (my partner in helping arrange some of these tours). Finally, a $50 discount is available for the first 20 people to e-mail me (see the About page for my e-mail address) and request the discount code. Having done the Alcatraz/Angel Island combination tour myself in previous years, I’d much prefer this private tour. Yes, it is a bit more expensive than the standard public tours, but the public tours don’t include private transportation to and from the conference hotel area, lunch, or an expert guide. So, if you’re interested, e-mail me for the discount code and then go register!
  • If you are interested in the Monterey/Carmel/Hearst Castle event, I’ve managed to get the deadline to register for this event extended to tomorrow, Friday, August 6. (Last time I checked the registration site still listed July 30.) This is a fantastic opportunity for couples to get away before the conference starts and enjoy some great scenery and sites! This awesome two-day event includes private transportation, catered reception-style dinner the night of the first day, overnight accommodations in San Simeon, breakfast and lunch on day two, private tour of Hearst Castle, and professional staff from Organized Chaos to coordinate the entire event. Definitely something to consider for couples interested in some private time before the madness of the conference!
  • Don’t forget that free lunch on the Muir Woods/Sausalito or the House Boat tours is available for people who respond to my earlier post so don’t delay!
  • As I’ve mentioned before, all the activities listed on the Spousetivities registration site include private transportation, and many of them include a private lunch as well. These are goodies that aren’t included in the typical public tours.

Don’t forget that all registrants for spouse activities will get a free T-shirt (last year’s shirts were a HUGE hit!), free welcome breakfast, and a nice gift bag with some goodies inside. All these freebies are courtesy of our sponsors this year: EMC, Train Signal, and HyTrust.

Act now if you’re interested in some of these activities! If you have questions, contact me on Twitter (my Twitter ID is @spousetivities) or drop me an e-mail. Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you in San Francisco!

Did You Say Free?

Hi all! I have great news that you won’t want to miss. After planning and budgeting, it appears I have extra money to help Spousetivities attendees enjoy their time in San Francisco even more.

So what does this mean for you?

The first 30 people that contact me via e-mail or Twitter will receive lunch for free (a $55 value!) when signing up for the Muir Woods/Sausalito or House Boat Tours on Tuesday or Wednesday! To take advantage of this offer you must register for one or both of these activities here. After you register, contact me via e-mail or Twitter and give me the name you used when you registered for your tour so I can credit the lunch to you. I’ll reply and let you know if you are one of the first 30 to respond. Please see the registration site for details on this fantastic, private lunch complete with wine and gourmet food. This is a great opportunity to feel like a king or queen for the day!

If a trip to the Islands of the Bay sounds more interesting, be one of the first 20 to respond and I will give you $50 off your registration. If you choose this trip, contact me via e-mail and give me the name you will use when you register. I will then e-mail a code to you that you can use when registering. You’ll have to use e-mail for this one, so that I can e-mail the registration code back to you.

Both of these offers are only valid until Thursday, August 5th at midnight or until all the offers have been accepted. Make sure you contact me quickly! Remember my Twitter ID is @spousetivities or you can e-mail me at the address provided on the About page.

Hearst Castle Deadline

Hi everyone! Time is sure flying by and VMworld US will be upon us before we know it. I have a very important reminder that you need to note. The deadline for the couples getaway is July 30th. Information about this event is posted here. There is only room for 17 couples, so please register soon. Scott and I currently plan to attend and we’d love you to join us on this exciting adventure. Remember your transportation, your lodging, and all but one of your meals are included in this overnight package. Dinner on Friday night is in a private, ocean-view banquet room and comes complete with wine for your enjoyment. This is an event not to be missed with stops at Carmel and Monterey as well. If you have additional questions, please feel free to e-mail me anytime.

Spouse Activity Early Bird Registration Now Open

After a lot of hard work and planning and with the help of Cynthia, I am ready to take the registration site live! Thanks to our corporate sponsors–EMC, Train Signal, and HyTrust–I am pleased to offer Early Bird Discounts for early registrations. Your discount depends on the number of tours for which you register. This means the more you choose, the more you save. Some tours are offered more than once so that you can create an itinerary that fits into your schedule. Be sure to check out the private lunches; many are memorable experiences in their own right and are a perfect compliment to the fabulous tours.

As with last year, we will be having a Get To Know You breakfast; this is listed on the event registration page. Please note that the breakfast is listed with a zero dollar amount. That is not an error! Thanks to the generous support of EMC, we are offering the Get To Know You breakfast for free this year. It will be held at Jillian’s near the Moscone Center and the Marriott Marquis. We can only hold 150 people, so it is important to register early. If you order a T-shirt this year–they were a huge hit last year–they will be given out at the breakfast.

I will be posting information on other “self organized” activities in the next few weeks. These “self organized” activities will include trips to Golden Gate Park, shopping excursions, and other low or no-cost events. It is important to note, however, that the events that are currently arranged have all the details already covered. For example, all the transportation for these arranged events is already covered. As I mentioned earlier, these arranged events also have the option to include a private lunch. The “self organized” excursions will attendees to use public transportation, walk, or get a rental vehicle. As I mentioned, more details will be posted about these activities soon.

Hopefully you are as excited as I am and you are ready to sign up. If so, click here to register.

Making it Happen!

Now is a great time to recognize some very important people. Who are these very important people? Why, they are the sponsors for Spousetivities 2010!

Thanks to our wonderful sponsors, the activities this year will be outstanding! So who are the companies that are reaching out beyond just the attendees but also to their families? So far I have three fabulous companies that have jumped on board to support Spousetivities.

Wine Country, Houseboats, and Segways, Oh My!

Hello everyone! I wanted to give you a little peek into the plans I am working on for this year’s Spousetivities! And just for the record, this is for the guys and the gals. Last year I was also asked if boyfriends, girlfriends, and significant others could attend or if it was married couples only. Everyone is welcome!

How does a day touring houseboats on the bay sound? Or what about spending the day on beautiful Angel Island, complete with a Segway or tram tour of the island followed by lunch and a ferry ride over to Alcatraz for a tour of the famous prison? Does a relaxing day touring wine country on a private bus and having a private lunch in a quaint restaurant on the grounds of the winery sound like the perfect day?

These are just a few ideas I am working on for this year. If this is the first time or the twentieth time you have been to San Francisco, you are sure to have a wonderful time. I am planning activities for every day of the conference and making sure that we have an early return on Wednesday so we can join our spouses for the VMworld party that night.

Please feel free to leave comments and ideas if none of this is getting you excited about this year’s VMworld Spousetivities or if you have other great ideas!

Your Request Did Not Go Unheard

OK folks, I’ve been working hard to get plans underway for VMworld 2010 Spousetivities. One comment I heard a lot last year was that it would be nice to have plans for couples before and/or after the event. Well, those requests did not fall on deaf ears!

I currently have an opportunity for couples to visit Hearst Castle, Monterey, and Carmel during an amazing overnight trip for two. This trip will include the famous 17 Mile Drive, a private tour of Carmel Mission, an ocean view room at the Best Western Cavalier Resort, private dinner on Friday, and relaxing breakfast on Saturday. This is truly an exciting opportunity for couples to get away before the conference begins on Monday.

There is limited space for this trip and I expect it to sell out quickly so if you are interested, please let me know. I’ll have a link up soon so that you can pre-register.

If this trip is just too much fun and you’d like something a little less action packed, I also have a wonderful day trip to Monterey/Carmel arranged. This trip will be offered twice. Participants may choose either Saturday, August 28th, or Friday, September 3rd. This tour is for couples or singles but since it is before and after the conference, it is a great time for attendees and their spouses to do something fun together.

More details will be posted soon for these and other fun activities being planned during VMworld 2010! Also keep watch as I begin to post the agenda for VMworld EMEA 2010!
