Win Cool Stuff at EMC World 2011

As anyone who has participated in Spousetivities knows, we have the best sponsors. This year for EMC World–thanks to EMC, eGroup, and Brocade, our sponsors–everyone registering for the breakfasts and at least one activity has the opportunity to win some great prizes. In fact, Spousetivities will be giving away over $1500 in prizes! Who doesn’t like winning prizes?

Thanks to Brocade, attendees could win a $50 shopping certificate, an iPod shuffle, or an Amazon Kindle.

Likewise, thanks to EMC for the opportunity to win a 32GB Wi-Fi iPad. Of course, EMC is also the sponsor of our welcome and farewell breakfast events.

Finally, eGroup is giving attendees yet another shot at a 32GB Wi-Fi iPad or an iPod Touch.

This means attending Spousetivities not only gives you some great activities at reduced costs during the conference, but also the chance to meet some fantastic people and win prizes. Good fun, tasty food, great people, and awesome prizes–what more could you ask for?

Bringing the family to EMC World 2011?

Are you an EMC employee or customer and have plans to attend EMC World in Las Vegas this year? Or are you choosing not to attend because you don’t want to spend that time away from your family? Maybe you feel like you can’t bring the family because you don’t think Las Vegas is a “family friendly” destination. Well, think again! This year, thanks to EMC, eGroup, and Brocade, Spousetivities will be offered during the EMC World 2011.

How does that help with bringing the family? Great question! I have two reasons why you should re-consider attending EMC World 2011 and bringing your family with you:

1. Got kids? Perfect! Spousetivities is offering “kid friendly” options that are off the Strip and away from the more “grown up” attractions in Las Vegas. I have someone in place to be with the children during all child events, or you can attend activities with your child. How cool is that? Just contact me for further information (contact information is on the About page of this site).

2. No kids? Great! Come to EMC World 2011 and let your adult family and friends join other spouses, friends, parents, and/or significant others for fun activities on and near the Strip. With the purchase of a Las Vegas Power Pass, many of the activities will be available at no additional cost to you. Other activities are being offered at greatly reduced prices thanks to our sponsors. Some of these activities include:

  • Hoover Dam Tour and Ethel M. Chocolate Factory Tour for $20 per person (normally $59.99). This tour includes a private motor coach so it will be our group only. Kids of all ages are welcome on this tour.
  • Shopping excursion to the Factory Outlets
  • Shopping excursion on the Strip
  • Sightseeing
  • Spa options (normally $160 per treatment, now $90)

There really is something for everyone so don’t delay, get registered today!

Registration Open for EMC World Spousetivities 2011!

The wait is finally over! The registration page for Spousetivities at EMC World 2011 is live!

Personally, I’m really excited thinking about this year’s activities at EMC World 2011 in Las Vegas. It will be the first year that I’ll be organizing activities for EMC World, so it will be great to have a new set of people to meet. It’s been awesome to meet new people at the VMworld Spousetivities, and I’m really looking forward to meeting even more new people, forming new friendships, and having a great time.

Complete details on all the activities are available at the registration page, but here’s a quick look at what’s planned:

  • We’ll have our customary Welcome/”Get to Know You” breakfast, which will be an exclusive breakfast at the Canyon Ranch Spa at The Venetian. In addition, I’m also adding a Farewell breakfast on Thursday. In addition to great food and great company, you’ll also have the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes (generously provided by our sponsors: EMC, eGroup, and Brocade). Food, fun, and prizes? Awesome!
  • Shopping and sightseeing tours will be available for Monday and Tuesday. There are a couple of different options available.
  • Wednesday is “Spa Day,” with a variety of spa treatments available, all at reduced rates (again, thanks to the sponsors!). Conveniently, Wednesday is also the day of the conference party that night. That works out well, doesn’t it? In fact, you might even think that someone planned it that way…

Of course, one of the great things about Spousetivities is that it’s not just about participating in the planned activities. It’s about connecting people with each other. So many friendships have been formed out of these activities, and I anticipate that it will happen again in Las Vegas in just a few weeks. Feel free to join us, even if you don’t want to join in the planned activities. It’s entirely possible that you’ll make some new friends along the way!

As usual, Spousetivities participants will get a funny T-shirt this year (we think your IT spouses are going to love it!) and a cool gift bag. But you have to participate in the breakfasts in order to get this stuff, so be sure to head over to the registration page to get signed up. There is a small cost for the breakfast, but the majority of the cost for this exclusive event has been offset by our corporate sponsors.

For the first time ever, Spousetivities is offering youth activities. This is not a baby-sitting service. Rather, these are activities designed for the young people including a day of fun at Sky Zone (indoor trampoline park) and kids centered excursions off the strip and professionally supervised. Please contact me for full details.

Don’t miss out—head over to the registration page now to get signed up!

Let’s Go to EMC World!

Here we go folks…

I have been working feverishly to get plans in place for the first annual EMC World Spousetivities! Here’s a quick preview of some of the things I’m working on for this conference.

For those who have attended these events during VMworld, you know that we always open the events with a “Get to Know You” breakfast. This tradition will be continued at EMC World. You won’t want to miss the fun drawings for great gifts at the breakfast! I won’t mention any names, but something that starts with “i” and rhymes with “Bad” is not inconceivable…

In addition to breakfast, I’m arranging a spa day. Don’t worry, gentlemen, I have not forgotten about you. Services will be available for both men and women and will include massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, and access to Pilates classes and other exercise opportunities. A complete list will be available soon and registration should open next week. This special day of pampering comes just in time to be ready for the EMC World party Wednesday night. Convenient, isn’t it?

Another activity will be “a day on the Strip.” Groups will visit the dancing fountains at the Bellagio, the Eiffel Tower, and various other “must sees” in Vegas. I am also working on a trip to Old Vegas for the day.

For families, Spousetivities is offering a day at Hoover Dam, a day in Old Nevada (this is different than Old Vegas), and possibly a day trip to the Grand Canyon. I am also working on having a children’s coordinator in place to offer activities for the children while the parent participates in some of the other activities. Because of the conference being so close to Mother’s Day, having the option of bringing the family is a great way to enjoy the benefits of both.

If your spouse, partner, or significant other is going to EMC World, you simply won’t want to stay behind! These activities will include fun for everyone. I will have more information here soon, so subscribe to the RSS feed for automatic updates, or visit back often!

Registration Now Open For Copenhagen Spousetivites

I am very excited to let everyone know that registration is now open for Copenhagen Spousetivities. If you are traveling with a VMworld attendee and are interested in joining other spouses, friends, and family of attendees, you need to check out these fun events!

Other activities will be added later this week and throughout the weekend. The first events are all free because of the support of our sponsors, EMC, Train Signal, and HyTrust. Make sure you register for the vWife t-shirt! These are always a huge hit for both the Spousetivities participant and the VMworld attendee. Don’t worry if you aren’t a wife, I have t-shirts for you, too! On Tuesday, October 12th, we will be having a “Get-to-know-you” breakfast at the Tycho Brahe Planetarium. Right after breakfast, we will enjoy spending some time watching the movie “Vores kosmiske rejse”. Don’t worry about understanding the film as I have already arranged for the translation headphones for everyone! There will be lots to see and do on Tuesday!

Events for Wednesday and Thursday are in the final planning stages. Please stay tuned for these to be posted. Don’t forget that all participants also get a welcome bag with other free goodies inside! I look forward to seeing everyone in Copenhagen in a few short weeks! Don’t forget to register now!

Spouse Activities Update 3

Good evening everyone! I am in San Francisco making final preparations for VMworld Spousetivities 2010. I wanted to take a few minutes to update everyone on the tours. We have had a great response this year to activities but some days have been more popular than others. To keep costs down, a couple of tours that have been offered on multiple days have now been combined.

The Monday photographic tour is getting full, but there is still room if you want to enjoy this trip. This trip is repeated on Wednesday as well. This is a great activity for either of these two days since the VMworld reception is Monday night and the VMworld party is Wednesday night. This tour wraps up early in the day. If this sounds like the tour for you, go ahead and get registered for Monday or Wednesday. This tour is also good if the kiddos are joining you since there are a lot of cool things see!

The Monday wine tour is going to be a rockin’ good time! There are still discounts available for this tour so sign up now and use discount code winetime for $25 off the tour and code winetimelunch for $10 off the fantastic lunch. You won’t want to miss this tour and you’ll have some great company, too!

The Tuesday houseboat tour still has room. Pack your sweater and join me on a fun day of seeing these awesome homes! This tour also offers a very exclusive lunch. Whether you are a wine drinker or not, you’ll love this tour and lunch. If you register now, you can still take advantage of discount code: houseboatlunch and get the lunch for free! This $55 value is available courtesy of EMC. Attendees and those joining them at the reception Monday night stop by and thank EMC for making this possible!

If Alcatraz and Angel Island interests you more, please register here for this fantastic adventure. There will be no transportation to Pier 33, but it is a reasonable walk from most of the area hotels or you can easily take the bus or trolley. Public transportation is free if you purchase the City Pass! You may choose to meet at Pier 33 or at the Marriott Marquis and go together as a group. Group will depart from Marriott by 8:45 AM.

If you aren’t joining us on the Photographic tour on Wednesday but you still want something to do, then sign up for one of the groups that are sightseeing or participating in City Pass activities. These groups will be formed on Monday at the breakfast and will be breakout tours with no formal structure. You will see the city your way and at your own pace!

Thursday’s Muir Woods has some room left. This is a wonderful tour that allows us to take in the beauty of the towering Redwoods. You’ll feel like you are in another world during this nature escape. If this is just what the doctor ordered and you wish to join me for this tour, you can register here.

If you were looking for something a little different for Thursday, join one of the groups enjoying Golden Gate Park or spending time at the famous Pier 39. These groups will be meeting at the Marriott Marquis and can use Muni to reach their destinations. More info will be given at the breakfast and posted here Monday night.

Friday may mean that VMworld has officially ended but Scott and I plan to tour Carmel and Monterey. There are still spots left for this tour and it is a great way to wind down from the hustle of VMworld. This is a wonderful trip for couples and families. Sound good? Then get registered right away!

Itinerary for VMworld US

I have had several people ask what my schedule is going to be in San Francisco. As the coordinator, it is subject to change (OFTEN!); however, my planned itinerary is as follows:

Monday – I will be hosting the EMC sponsored “Get-to-Know-You Breakfast” at 8:00 AM. This breakfast is held at Jillians and is free to all Spousetivities participants. At 10:00 AM, I will be participating in the Wine Country Tour including the fabulous private lunch!

Monday PM – I will be joining my husband, Scott Lowe, at the VMworld reception. This is open to anyone who has purchased a registration to attend the conference as well as those who have purchased companion passes. Companion passes are purchased through the VMworld registration site.

Tuesday – This is going to be so much fun! At 9:15 AM. I plan to participate in the Sausalito Houseboat Tour. Again, I will be doing the private lunch. The restaurant hosting the lunch is only available by private reservation. Lunch includes gourmet food and wine! If you join me on this one, you won’t want to forget your camera and you’ll never forget the experience!

Wednesday – At 9:00 AM, I will be taking the Photographic Tour of San Francisco. Though I have been to San Francisco several time, this will be fun because we will have a private guide showing us the best spots for pictures in the area. If you happen to forget your camera, no worries because this tour includes one!

Wednesday PM – VMworld party of course!!! Again, this pass is purchased through the VMworld registration site. Get yours today!

Thursday – Another early start will get me headed on my way to the 9:00 AM departure for the Muir Woods/Sausalito Tour. Again, I will enjoy the private lunch at the beautiful Ondine’s Restaurant.

Friday – Who says the fun is over? Just because VMworld ended doesn’t mean the has to, right? So here we go with an 8:00 AM departure to the Monterey/Carmel Tour. My wonderful husband will be joining me for this adventure as well. So all you couples, come on out and enjoy this day of fun with us!

I am likely to add a night out to see the play Wicked as well, but I haven’t quite worked it in to the schedule just yet. I will not be doing the Alcatraz/Angel Island tour but for those of you who wish to do so, the Thursday tour that folks are booking is the yellow tour. If you book this tour, please let me know. That way I can coordinate so everyone can be together as a group!

All tours, the breakfast, and t-shirts can be reserved here. See you in San Francisco!!!

Spouse Activities Update

VMworld 2010 in San Francisco, CA, is right around the corner! I’m excited about the activities planned for VMworld this year and I wanted to give you a quick update on activities planning and deadlines. Make a note of these deadlines—you don’t want to miss out!

  • Today, August 5, is the last day to register for the “Islands of San Francisco Bay” tour. Many of you might have looked at this entry on the Spousetivities registration site and not realized that this is a tour of Alcatraz and Angel Island. Sorry for not being clearer! Here’s why you should consider registering for this activity. First, this activity includes private transportation between the San Francisco Marriott (very near Moscone, where the conference is being held) and Pier 33. Second, this activity also includes a boxed lunch to enjoy on Angel Island. Third, you’ll also get an expert guide from Organized Chaos (my partner in helping arrange some of these tours). Finally, a $50 discount is available for the first 20 people to e-mail me (see the About page for my e-mail address) and request the discount code. Having done the Alcatraz/Angel Island combination tour myself in previous years, I’d much prefer this private tour. Yes, it is a bit more expensive than the standard public tours, but the public tours don’t include private transportation to and from the conference hotel area, lunch, or an expert guide. So, if you’re interested, e-mail me for the discount code and then go register!
  • If you are interested in the Monterey/Carmel/Hearst Castle event, I’ve managed to get the deadline to register for this event extended to tomorrow, Friday, August 6. (Last time I checked the registration site still listed July 30.) This is a fantastic opportunity for couples to get away before the conference starts and enjoy some great scenery and sites! This awesome two-day event includes private transportation, catered reception-style dinner the night of the first day, overnight accommodations in San Simeon, breakfast and lunch on day two, private tour of Hearst Castle, and professional staff from Organized Chaos to coordinate the entire event. Definitely something to consider for couples interested in some private time before the madness of the conference!
  • Don’t forget that free lunch on the Muir Woods/Sausalito or the House Boat tours is available for people who respond to my earlier post so don’t delay!
  • As I’ve mentioned before, all the activities listed on the Spousetivities registration site include private transportation, and many of them include a private lunch as well. These are goodies that aren’t included in the typical public tours.

Don’t forget that all registrants for spouse activities will get a free T-shirt (last year’s shirts were a HUGE hit!), free welcome breakfast, and a nice gift bag with some goodies inside. All these freebies are courtesy of our sponsors this year: EMC, Train Signal, and HyTrust.

Act now if you’re interested in some of these activities! If you have questions, contact me on Twitter (my Twitter ID is @spousetivities) or drop me an e-mail. Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you in San Francisco!
