First Time Ever Spousetivities at AWS re:Invent!

Are you going to AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas? Well, there is certainly good news for you! This time, instead of leaving just after Thanksgiving and heading to another conference without the family, you can bring them along! That’s right, Spousetivities is coming to re:Invent 2016. What does that mean? Well, check out my about page for a little more information on what this is all about, then check out the activities lined up for anyone joining a conference attendee.

Registration is now open so check out what’s happening! Here’s an overview of the activities being offered:

  • Cooking with Chef Dell (Previous winner of Food Network’s “Chopped”)

  • Hoover Dam/Grand Canyon – because who doesn’t want to see this!?

  • Black Canyon Raft/Hoover Dam Charter

  • Vegas Food Tour hosted by Chef Dell

Wait, did I mention prizes? Oops, I might have forgotten that! Each day you are on a tour, you get a ticket in a drawing for a great prize. Some of the prizes given away at past events—and likely to find their way into this event—include Samsung tablets, Bose headphones, VR Headsets, GoPros, and iPad Minis. These of course, are in addition to the gift bag you receive if you are one of the first 30 to register. The gift bags include great goodies too—battery backups, water bottles, t-shirts, and more!

Sounds like something you’re interested in? You won’t want to delay as these activities often sell out very quickly so register today.

Follow me on Twitter and Facebook to get the latest updates leading up to the event as well as during the event. While you’re following me, go ahead and do the same for the sponsor making all of this possible: VMware NSX (@vmwarensx on Twitter and Facebook). Without their support, these activities would not be so affordable and actually wouldn’t even be possible. See you in Vegas!

Celebrity Chef, IBM Edge, and Spousetivities!

Are you thinking of bringing your spouse, partner, or significant other to IBM Edge?  Have they joined you before and Vegas was great once or twice but now they are done with the whole Vegas scene?  Well, here is a great way to get them excited about going back!  Spousetivities are available for them while you attend the conference.  Spousetivities you say?  Yes indeed!  Spousetivities offers fun day tours for conference attendee families each day of the event.  Some of the activities being offered during IBM Edge include a Hoover Dam tour, walking food tour that is a must do, Red Rocks tour, and a tour to a local ranch that includes a cooking session with a celebrity chef.  Did you hear that?  A celebrity chef!!!

Chef Phillip Dell is not only premiering on Food Network’s “Chopped”, but he also has an amazing story to share with everyone.  He operates Sin City Chefs and his story is one of success over a battle with his weight.  As one might imagine, having a job that revolves around food, weight could be a constant area of difficulty.  Don’t miss the opportunity to meet Phillip, hear his story, and learn from this popular Las Vegas chef.

I look forward to seeing each of you there!   You can register here right now so you don’t miss this and all the great activities happening in just a few short weeks!  If you ever have questions or ideas, please feel free to contact me via my About Page.

See you in VEGAS!

Spousetivities at IBM Edge 2013!

I’m very excited to announce Spousetivities has expanded again to include another new conference this year: IBM EDGE 2013! That’s right, Spousetivities will be on hand in Las Vegas, NV during IBM EDGE 2013 to provide safe, enjoyable activities for spouses, domestic partners, significant others, and family members who might be traveling with conference attendees.

If you’re planning on attending IBM EDGE this year and haven’t considered bringing your spouse/partner/significant other, please reconsider! Likewise, if you’re the spouse/partner/significant other of a conference attendee and haven’t considered traveling to Las Vegas because you don’t want to sit in a hotel room bored all day, please reconsider!

You can visit the IBM EDGE 2013 Spousetivities registration page to sign up for any the activities we’ve planned that week.

Here’s a quick sneak peek at what I’ve arranged for you:

  • Monday, June 10: We’ll start the week with our ever-popular “Welcome Breakfast,” where you’ll not only get some great food, but also have the opportunity to meet other activity participants. Some great friendships have been forged at the Spousetivities Welcome Breakfast! We’ll also be having drawings for some great giveaways, so please plan on being there! Following the breakfast, we’ve arranged an awesome “Foodie Tour” of Vegas that is simply not to be missed.

  • Tuesday, June 11: On Tuesday we’ve arranged for a unique tour that combines not only the excitement of the Vegas Strip but also the intense natural beauty of the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area. Talk about opposites!

  • Wednesday, June 12: Wednesday’s activity is very unique. Spousetivities has arranged for a special barbecue cooking class with celebrity chef Chef Dell. While Chef Dell has a passion for barbecue, he has an even greater passion for helping others feel confident in the kitchen. You’ll enjoy a limo ride to the ranch, a cooking class with Chef Dell, and an enjoyable barbecue lunch at the rustic cowboy ranch house afterward.

  • Thursday, June 13: If you haven’t been the Grand Canyon’s West Rim, then this is the tour for you! You’ll enjoy private luxury coach transportation, breakfast, lunch on the Hualapai Indian Reservation at the West Rim, and breathtaking views of the United States’ most fabulous natural wonders.

  • Friday, June 14: The week’s activities wrap up on Friday with the opportunity to take a tour of Hoover Dam (including the dam’s inner workings!), followed by a relaxing deli lunch before an incredible cruise on the beautiful Desert Princess. Just what you need to unwind after a fun-filled week!

All these activities are in addition to discounts on spa services at THE Bathhouse at Mandalay Bay, such as massages, manicures, pedicures, and facials. Who could ask for more?

All of these activities do require registration, so be sure to visit the registration page to sign up for the activities in which you’d like to participate. And don’t delay, because space is limited—you won’t want to miss out!

Let’s do it Again!

Last year was fabulous, so let’s do it again this year! Spousetivities is coming to EMC World again in 2012. If you are going to EMC World, you won’t want to leave your family and or friends behind. If your spouse, partner, or significant other is going to EMC World, you simply won’t want to stay behind! There will be activities for everyone.

The spa was a huge hit last year so once again, Spousetivities participants will be able to enjoy Canyon Ranch Spa at discounted rates. There will also be a visit to do some wine tasting. And did I mention that you’ll be escorted to the wine tasting via limousine? If massages, manicures, wine, and limousines don’t get your interest, what about a day of horseback riding in Red Rock Canyon? These are the confirmed activities thus far, but check back often, because I hope to offer the traditional “Get to Know You” breakfast and possibly other activities as well.

All this sound like fun? Want to know how to register? Excellent! Registration is available here. Don’t wait, sign up today as some activities have very limited space.

See you in Las Vegas in May!

VMware PEX 2012

Can you say, “WOW!”? 2011 was an incredible year for Spousetivities (post about that coming soon), but 2012 looks to be even better. Spousetivities is kicking the year off in style with activities at VMware Partner Exchange (PEX). As many of you know, PEX is being held in Las Vegas at the Venetian Hotel and Resort. The official dates are February 13th – 16th. Most of you will pick up right away that those dates overlap Valentine’s Day. No worries, just take your sweetie with you! Spousetivities will be offered February 14th – 16th.

What’s on tap for this event, you ask? Since Vegas isn’t terribly hot in February, it is perfect for a horseback riding tour. We will also be strolling the Strip and enjoying a nice ride in a stretch limo to do some wine tasting. Prefer to be pampered this Valentine’s season? How about a day (or two) at the luxurious Canyon Ranch Spa? Spousetivities has secured discounted pricing for many of the spa services offered by Canyon Ranch. Remember, every service includes access to Aquavana to take relaxation to the extreme.

Are you interested yet? Is your spouse or significant other? Great! More details and registration information is offered here. Spaces are very limited so don’t delay. Spousetivities tends to fill up prior to the event and additional activities cannot always be added. I look forward to seeing everyone in Las Vegas in a few weeks. Cheers!

Spousetivities at VMworld Update #1

VMworld 2011 in Las Vegas is fast approaching, and so are the Spousetivities! I again want to thank our fantastic sponsors–Dell Tech Center, eGroup, EMC, HP, HyTrust, Train Signal, vBackup, VMUG, and The Virtualization Practice–for making these activities possible.

Here’s a quick update on availability for activities; keep in mind that registration closes on August 26, 2011 (only 10 days away!):

  • Only a couple of manicure/pedicure appointments are available; all other services are sold out
  • A few spots remain for the Wednesday and Thursday cooking classes with Chef Bev Lee
  • Only 7 spots left for the Hoover Dam/Lake Mead cruise
  • 13 spots are available on Wednesday’s Lake Mead cruise
  • Plenty of tickets still available for the breakfast on Monday
  • vHottie T-shirts are still available for those not attending the events

For those of you interested in the Grand Canyon tour, I will be adding 20 more spots in the next day or so, but the price goes up to $129.99 per person. I will also add spa services, but the price will increase to $120 per service. My sponsors have been great in helping to keep costs down, but sponsorship funds only go so far!

If you’re thinking of signing up, I highly recommend you go ahead and sign up now, before registration closes and/or before sponsorship funds run out and prices go up! Just a reminder: I will not be accepting activity registrations on-site.

VMworld 2011 Planning Update

Hi folks! I know it’s been a while so I wanted to give everyone an update on how things are coming along for Spousetivities at VMworld in Las Vegas. I’ve added a new sponsor and negotiated a few contracts so keep reading for the latest details.

First, a quick update on sponsors. Of course we all know Spousetivities wouldn’t be what it is today without the support of our sponsors. I am pleased to announce that the VMUG (VMware User Group) is our latest sponsor. The VMUG team is anxious to jump in and lend a hand with making Spousetivities even better. I am very excited to have them on board! In addition to VMUG as a sponsor, we can also thank EMC, HyTrust, Train Signal, and eGroup for making Spousetivities happen at VMworld 2011. Stay tuned as I am also working with several other companies that are interested in supporting this fantastic program!

Now, on to the activities–the part everyone is waiting for! What will there be to do at Spousetivities during VMworld? Well, how does a professional cooking class sound? If the idea of a class sounds good, then the option to choose between 4 classes and be transported via limo should sound even better! That’s right, cooking classes will be offered every afternoon from 4:00 – 8:00 with a variety of cooking options from Vegetarian to American Classics to Weekend Gourmet. Space will be very limited so sign up fast. For those of you that haven’t been to Las Vegas before, there will be walking tours offered to see all of the “must sees” along the Strip. Of course, the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, and Lake Mead are all nearby so we can’t forget those activities. Already been to the Hoover Dam? No worries, how does a trip along Lake Mead on an authentic paddlewheel boat sound? Never been to the Grand Canyon or Hoover Dam? Guess what–you’ll have the opportunity for both during Spousetivities at VMworld. So all of this is great but what about some R&R? Don’t worry, I’ve got that covered! You will have the opportunity Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday to spend a few hours or the whole day at the Canyon Ranch Spa. There is something for everyone!

Can you handle one more bit of information? I’ve also arranged a couples’ overnight trip for Friday and Saturday. This trip will include pick up in Las Vegas followed by transportation via luxury motor coach to Williams, AZ. In Williams, you’ll get overnight accommodations and 2 meals. On Saturday, you will enjoy breakfast & entertainment, and then a train ride in superb accommodations to the Grand Canyon South Rim. After enjoying the unbelievable sights at the Canyon, you will board another luxury motor coach for your return to Las Vegas.

I am always open to suggestions (if nothing here appeals to you). With this vast array of opportunities, I hope everyone will find something that peaks their interest. Registration opens on Wednesday at 8:00 AM Eastern Time, so stay tuned and register early as spaces will fill quickly. I look forward to seeing everyone soon!
